Portalegre and Elvas are some 50 km from each other, and are located in the center/south of Portugal, near the Spanish border, in the Alentejo region, considered one of the 50 best destinations in the world (January 2016).

No wonder: no one remains indifferent to the impressive fortifications or to the Roman aqueduct of Elvas, World Heritage Site, to the whiteness of Castelo de Vide, to the imposing town of Marvão, on the top of the rocky slope, or to the majesty of the Monastery of Flor da Rosa, in Crato, one of the oldest in the country, today a luxury hotel.

Both are served by a good road network: the Lisbon-Madrid motorway passes through Elvas and the motorway connecting the interior to the coast is only 40 km from Portalegre. Buses and trains connect both cities across the country

The facilities of the various units that make up the IPP, divided by Portalegre and Elvas, are located in the respective centers, in buildings adapted to the needs of modern education.

This option allows students to enjoy direct contact with the population, being close to the most common places of interest – cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, etc. Only the School of Health, located next to the hospital, and the School of Technology and Management, on its own campus outside the city, are not in the center.

In addition to this last School, there are also the modern facilities of BioBip, an incubator of technology-based companies in the areas of energy and marketing. The IPP has modern and well-equipped facilities, residences and canteens, serving the academic population
